Electric Vehicle Charge Points

FOR COMMUNITY PARKING SPACES

HOW WOULD CHARGE POINTS BENEFIT YOUR COMMUNITY?

The need to switch to cleaner transport is an important response to the Climate Emergency declarations. Electric Vehicles (EVs) are cheaper to run, less polluting and sales are increasing. However, there is a need for more public charge points. Providing EV charge points at your facilities can:
  • Encourage your community to switch to EVs
  • Support local transport services who want to switch to EVs
  • Benefit local residents unable to charge at home
As more EVs are sold, the need for charge points will increase and charge point providers can expect a revenue stream to help sustain their services to the community. Now is the time to install charge points in your car parks, and this document will demonstrate how Gwent Energy CIC can help you to help your community.

Yours sincerely,

Director of Gwent Energy CIC

EV charging infrastructure can power electric community car schemes, with lower carbon emissions at lower cost.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGE POINTS

Gwent Energy CIC has installed a range of EV charge points around South East Wales

We can advise on:

Power supply  |  Choice of chargers and connector types  |  User interface and payment methods  |  Cost and funding (OLEV grants)

7 kW slow charging

Suitable for all buildings and appropriate for long-stay or overnight charging.

22 kW or 11 kW fast charging

Requires a 3-phase power supply.

50 kW or 43 kW rapid charging

Requires a dedicated power supply.

Charge points can be wall-mounted or free-standing units, with multiple sockets.

Which charger is suitable for my site?

This depends on the available power supply, accessibility and location of the car park, estimated user demand, and ownership.

WE CAN INSTALL THE EQUIPMENT AND MAINTAIN IT

We can also provide a customer contact service and attend to any issues arising

We’ll demonstrate how best to utilize your existing power supply, and if needed we will apply to the DNO on your behalf.

If multiple charge sockets are required, sites can be set up with a shared payment interface. Where access to charging needs to be controlled, lockable switches or restricted swipe cards are available.

We can remotely monitor and configure charge points using our back-office system, as well as easily transfer revenue to your account.

ID Charge Cards

Provide discounted rates to regular users or local communities, operated by a swipe card.

This can be branded to your organization’s needs, and users can be monitored for costs or for topping up accounts.

Combining EVCPs with Solar PV

ENERGY FROM SOLAR PV SYSTEMS HELPS POWER THE EVCPs

Gwent Energy CIC can install a solar PV system to the building, ensuring the power to the EV charge point is offset by the surplus renewable energy generated – a virtuous circle!

A CASE STUDY

Bridges Centre - a case study

Bridges Community Centre is the heart of community groups in Monmouth. They provide an impressive range of activities with health benefits for the most vulnerable members of society, as well as providing transport for those isolated with the use of a community bus.

Gwent Energy CIC installed 10 kWH solar, along with four electric vehicle charge sockets: one 22 kWh, two 7.2 kWh and one 3.6 kWh.

This provides suitable charging for a range of different EVs.

Trustees are now looking to use the energy from the solar and EV charge point, to power an electric community transport scheme.
