| Our Ethos
Gwent Energy is a community interest company that helps individuals, communities and small businesses to benefit from renewable energy.
As well as saving your money on your energy bills, we also help reduce your carbon emissions.
Our journey began in 2008, helping local communities in Monmouthshire to fund, build and own community wind turbine projects. However, we began getting more and more inquiries for community owned solar installation projects.
We’ve installed more than 500 hundred solar PV systems for homes, communities and businesses – we’re pretty good at it now!
| The Team
| Technical Director
The founder of Gwent Energy CIC, Phil originally worked in the oil industry before realising it was vastly unsustainable and he knew we had to change the way we power our homes, communities and businesses.
As one of the original founders of the Tintern Angiddy Project before funding was sadly cut short, Phil has always been involved with community projects and strongly believes in creating a sustainable future for our communities.
Lurli is Phil’s wife, and manages the busy phone line for Gwent Energy CIC, recording important information on behalf of the client to pass onto the relevant team member.
Cyrene Dominguez (née Powell)
Communications Officer | Investors' Club Secretary
Cyrene is Phil’s daughter and handles Gwent Energy’s printed material, photography and social media. Despite being comfortable with a keyboard and mouse, she does not shy away from climbing tall scaffolding to work on the roof with a drill.
Cyrene is Chairperson of Bee Friendly Monmouthshire, is on the committee for Gwent Beekeepers CIO, and has her own website with her design portfolio and other work.
| Trainee Project Manager
Originally from Seattle, Washington, Alex will be moving to the UK in the final quarter of 2022 to live with his wife, Cyrene.
Alex has over a decade of experience in client and accounts management from his time working with an Immigration Solicitors firm, and will be bringing his passion for business development.
He will be joining Gwent Energy CIC and learning how to design and manage Solar PV projects.
| Electrical Technician
Josh is our very capable electrician, and has been with Gwent Energy CIC for several years now. He confidently manages the installation of our systems. He ensures everything is cabled and drilled correctly and neatly, and he uses his several years worth of experience to overcome any potential issues or difficulties during the installs.
| PV System Engineer
Nick joined Gwent Energy CIC in March 2022, and has previous experience of working for a Solar PV installation company. Because of this, he is adept at site surveys and designing the ideal system for our clients. He has the knowledge to explain how your system works, and how to apply and register your system with Western Power.
| Trainee Technician
Robbie joined Gwent Energy CIC a week before Christmas in 2021. Despite being completely new to the renewable energy sector, he has shown confidence in installing systems on the ground or on the roof, and recording and detailing important system information for our client’s handover packs.
